What's happening in Ogy Joe Entertainment?

More Excuses
Tue, Jun. 12 2007
Well, I promised you updates, and I failed to come through. So what's my problem? My main problem right now is not having internet at home. So all of my internet business has to be done at work, or I have to go out of my way to find a place with Wi-Fi to connect. And since work has been too busy to really be slacking off on the internet all day, I really only get stuff done when I go somewhere with Wi-Fi. And THEN I try to concentrate on the more important stuff, like booking more shows. I really want to get some cool stuff up here for you, but forces are working against me.

Another thing I really want to do is get the radio show up and running. I have up to three laptops, and I have cohosts willing to help me out, and I have an entire music collection to provide background music, but I still have no interent. And it doesn't help to be on the internet at work or at just some random Wi-Fi connection. It's kinda hard to broadcast a radio show from work or from the corner of Panera.

One day, one day. It will happen. In the meantime, check out my MySpace site at http://www.myspace.com/OgyJoe, because I can update it more easily than the website.

Ogy Joe Radio Show - Tonight Cancelled

I know I said I would be broadcasting tonight, but since all my co-hosts are unavailable, and I am not feeling well, I will not be able to do so. Stay tuned for next air date 9possibly tomorrow).
Ogy Joe Radio Show - Premiere Recap / New Episode Announced
Tue, Nov. 28 2006

"Fantastic!"
"The greatest thing on the internet!"
"Passed with flying colors!"
"Simply amazing!"

These are just some of the answers I got when I asked the question, "What is the opposite of how the Ogy Joe Radio Show went?"  In case you were wondering what you missed, here it is:  NOTHING.  That's right; you didn't miss a dang thing.  If you tried to tune in at 9:05, you would not have even been able to.

You see, last night was the night of a thousand mishaps.  I set the start time to 9:05, knowing full well that I couldn't get online until 9:00, and allowing myself a few minutes to get up and running.  Just as planned, I began trying to connect to the internet at 9:00 PM.  At 9:40 PM, I finally got connected.  Now that I was finally online, everything was moving at a snail's pace.  So I finally got TalkShoe up and running about 9:55.  Now this was just the chat client; I still hadn't got dialed in to talk.  Skype was not cooperating, and Gizmo wouldn't even launch.  So at 11:00, I decided it was time to call it quits.  I never even got into my own show.  Two people did get logged in with audio, so I unmuted them and let them talk, even though I could not hear what they were saying.  Fun times.

Anyway, I am going to do this via Wi-Fi and not dial up next time.  And next time will be Thursday night (unless plans change) from 6:00 - 9:00 PM CST.  (Yes, 9:00 will be the cut off time, because Scott Kurtz's show starts then.)  Hopefully you will be able to tune in then.

Ogy Joe Radio Show - Premiere Episode
Mon, Nov. 27 2006

That's right; I now have my own internet radio show. It premieres tonight at 9:00 PM CST. I had co-hosts in mind (even had theme music lined up for their intros), but now they may or may not be present, so I won't advertise them yet. Tonight's episode will be unscripted and will not follow any specific schedule. Future episodes will have special guests and featured segments. Here is all you need to know to get setup.

I am trying this new thing called TalkShoe that allows you to throw an interactive podcast. So basically it's like my own radio show. There is a live chat and I can even take calls. I am going to give it a try Monday night (November 27) at 9:05 PM CST. Here is what you have to do:

1.) Go to TalkShoe.com (which is blocked from Emdeon for those of you trying to check it out early, so forward this message home), sign up, and download the free software. This will let you into the interactive chat and be able to hear me speak. If you are not interested in calling in, then you don't have to do anything else.

2.) If you want to be able to "call in" via VOIP (voice over internet protocol a.k.a. talk through your internet connection), you will need a microphone and a VOIP program. Need a VOIP program? You can go to Skype.com or GizmoProject.com to download and install free software there. (NOTE: Sometimes these programs can be a bit temperamental, so be persistent and you'll be fine. I seemed to have better luck with Gizmo than Skype. I hear Skype Beta 3 is better.)

3.) If you want to dial in through a phone, all you have to do is call 724-444-7444, enter my talkcast id of 6823, and then enter the pin you setup at TalkShoe. If you connect this way, the audio will come through your phone and not your computer. You can actually connect this way without even using the TalkShoe software (if you don't want to see the chat), but you still have to sign up on TalkShoe so you have a pin.

The first session will serve mainly to test the service, but who knows where the discussion will go, or how long? The entire thing will be downloadable after it is recorded, so you can listen to my stupid voice over and over. Oh boy!

I am looking for a couple of co-hosts if anyone is interested. Let me know if you have any questions on this whole LiveCast.

Here's the link for my LiveCast:

And tell your friends to tune in too.

I'm Back!
Tue, Oct. 17 2006
Thanks to the block being lifted (which might be only temporary) from my website editor here at work, I am able to get back into the site. I am working to get everything updated for you as quickly as possible. I also hope to get that graphics/design overhaul completed soon, but that is not top priority at the moment.

In the meantime, check out http://www.myspace.com/OgyJoe.

The debut of Generation Down will be Saturday, February 18 (convieniently my birthday) in Jackson, TN at the VFW Showplex. For those of you in the NashVegas area, GD will be making their hometown debut Saturday, March 18 at the Gibson Showcase. This is also the first show I have solely booked myself, so both myself and the band need your support. The lineup will feature Generation Down with The Spectacles, Hour 9, and VCSB. The show starts at 9:00 pm with a $5 cover for 21 and up ($7 for 18-20). Bring everyone you know (and strangers too).

"Generation Down to play OzzFest 2006!" You want that headline to become a reality? With your help, it just might happen. Go take the survey at http://www.ozzfest.com/survey/2005/ and vote for Generation Down as a band you want to see play OzzFest this year.

Want to help get Generation Down in your hometown? Just let me know who I need to get in touch with for booking at a club near you. As soon as I have the contact point, I will begin negotiations.

The guys also need your support. Go to the MySpace page (http://www.myspace.com/GenerationDownMusic), listen to the songs, and then rate and comment on them.

Also, add a Generation Down banner to your MySpace page and repost this bulletin to spread the word of your new favorite rock band. Just use this code:

<a href="http://www.myspace.com/generationdownmusic"><img src="http://i13.photobucket.com/albums/a255/FullTiltAuto/banner2.jpg" alt="Click here to check out Generation Down!"></a><br>

And you'll get this as a result:

Click here to check out Generation Down!

And finally, post this as a bulletin on MySpace so all your friends can add Generation Down too!

Don..'t be left in the cold; add the hottest new band to hit Nashville!

Thanks everybody,

Whatever happened to OgyJoe.com?
Sun, Jan. 15 2006
I had the updates almost ready to roll out...then my laptop crashed. All the new graphics, all my pictures, all the new coding...is gone. Hopefully I can one day get the laptop fixed and get this data recovered. In the menatime, I am going to start updating all over again using the existing template. While all of this is going down, you can check out my MySpace site at http://www.myspace.com/OgyJoe.
